What are card acquiring services?

Card acquiring services refer to the financial infrastructure that allows a merchant to accept credit and debit card payments. The acquirer acts as the link between the merchant and the card schemes (like Visa or Mastercard), handling the authorization, clearing, and settlement of funds into the merchant’s account.

Does ConnectPay have a license for card acquiring?

Yes. ConnectPay is an Electronic Money Institution (EMI license No. 24) authorized and regulated by the Bank of Lithuania. Facilitating card payments and payment initiation are within the scope of our extended EMI license.

Do I need to have a ConnectPay account to start using card acquiring?

Yes. In order to enable our card acquiring services, the merchant must open a conto IBAN aziendale with ConnectPay. However, the individual customers using your website do not need to have ConnectPay accounts to complete their purchases.

What is the difference between credit card acquiring and debit card acquiring?

While the technical process is similar, credit card acquiring involves processing cards that draw from a line of credit, while debit card acquiring processes cards linked directly to a user’s bank account. Our platform handles both types seamlessly through a single integration.

Are there specific transaction limits for card payments?

ConnectPay does not set specific maximum limits for transactions made via our services, but your customer’s issuing bank may have its own policies regarding card payments. We recommend checking with your specific user base for high-value transactions.
