Does ConnectPay have a license for card acquiring?

Yes. ConnectPay is an Electronic Money Institution (EMI license No. 24) authorized and regulated by the Bank of Lithuania. Facilitating card payments and payment initiation are within the scope of our extended EMI license.

Do I need to have a ConnectPay account to start using card acquiring?

Yes. In order to enable our card acquiring services, the merchant must open a cuenta IBAN empresarial with ConnectPay. However, the individual customers using your website do not need to have ConnectPay accounts to complete their purchases.

What is the difference between credit card acquiring and debit card acquiring?

While the technical process is similar, credit card acquiring involves processing cards that draw from a line of credit, while debit card acquiring processes cards linked directly to a user’s bank account. Our platform handles both types seamlessly through a single integration.
